Bar theft prevention: how to stop shortages at the bar

A bar shortage is rarely one big theft. It is unbilled drinks, “it was on the house”, voids and counting mistakes, a little every day. Smarter HoReCa turns every difference into a quantity and an amount, straight away, at every handover.

How Smarter HoReCa helps

  • Blind bar handover

The outgoing and the incoming bartender count the same items, each on their own phone, without seeing the other's numbers. If a difference remains after a recount, the manager gets an alert with the amount.

  • Bar and kitchen ledger from a photo

Take a photo of the handwritten ledger, AI reads the table, you check the rows, and the app calculates consumption and differences in money.

  • Stock from your POS export

Import a CSV or Excel export from any POS, AI recognises the columns and the app warns you before you run out. Your POS and fiscal system stay as they are.

  • Anonymous staff reports

Staff can report theft, harassment or a food safety problem without a name or exact time. You find out in time, and they take no risk.

  • AI photo check at a random moment

Three times per shift the app asks for a photo of one task, at a moment nobody knows in advance. AI checks that the photo matches the task and rejects blurry, old and reused pictures.

  • Nightly report for the owner

After 23:30 you get a short summary of the day in the app and by email: money at risk, differences, unfinished shifts. If everything is fine, the message is short.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blind bar handover?

The outgoing and incoming bartender count the same items, each on their own phone, without seeing the other's numbers. Items that do not match are recounted; a remaining difference goes to the manager with the amount.

How does the app know what was sold?

From your POS export (CSV or Excel) and from the bar ledger you photograph. AI reads the handwriting, you check the rows, and the app calculates consumption and the difference.

What if a worker sees theft but is afraid to say?

They can send an anonymous report without a name or exact time. The owner and manager get one summary a day.
